About 90% of persons with severe mental illness exhibit either overmethylation, undermethylation, or pyrrole disorder as their dominant chemical imbalance. Wheat gluten intolerance appears to be responsible for another 4% of psychotic patients. The remaining 6% involve a collection of relatively rare mental illness biotypes including thyroid deficiency, cerebral allergy, polydipsia, homocysteinuria, drug-induced psychosis, Wilson’s Disease, porphyria, MAO deficiency, and PUFA deficiency.
An initial clinical evaluation may concentrate on determining the presence (or absence) of the three major biotypes, while being alert for indications of wheat gluten intolerance or thyroid deficiency. If all of these conditions are ruled out, the rarer biotypes should be investigated.
Medical Practitioner Testimonials
"I have been practicing Nutritional & Environmental Medicine since 1985. This pathway has brought much excitement and passion to my practice of medicine. The opportunity to attend both the 2007 and 2008 Walsh-Pfeiffer Outreach in Sydney due to the enthusiasm of Marion Redstone has given me an even greater passion: i.e. to work with the children affected by Autism, ASD, ADHD etc."
