Online Continuing Practitioner Education
The Walsh Research Institute offers unique continuing education opportunities for physicians and medical practitioners to learn advanced, drug-free, nutrient-based approaches for patients challenged by behavior disorders, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, clinical depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and neurodegenerative disorders. The sessions include an update on new advances in brain science, epigenetics, and treatment of methylation disorders. Nutrient therapies to adjust activity at serotonin, dopamine, NMDA, and other receptor systems will be described in detail.
The teaching faculty consists of world-class experts in the fields of ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, psychotic disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Over the years, Dr. Walsh has directed more than 25 similar workshops in Australia, Norway, Ireland, and the USA. More than 1,000 doctors from 45 countries have been educated in Dr. Walsh's advanced nutrient therapy protocols. In 2020, we developed a virtual, distance-learning version of our physician-education workshops to cope with COVID-19 restrictions on large conferences.

|
The Walsh Research Institute’s Mastering Brain Chemistry Online Course is aimed at educating practitioners in brain biochemistry, neurotransmission, epigenetics, and clinical challenges in mental, learning and behavioral disorders. The program will include an update on new advances in brain science, the impact of nutrient imbalances on brain levels of key neurotransmitters, and histone-modification techniques to regulate gene expression of proteins and adjust serotonin and dopamine reuptake processes. Treatment protocols include blood/urine testing approaches for identification of biochemical imbalances that can impair brain function, and a review of the latest research on evidence-based approaches for normalizing these factors. The roles of undermethylation, overmethylation, zinc deficiency, copper overload, pyrrole disorder, Vitamin D deficiency and malabsorption in mental illness will be described.
The course schedule is designed to blend self-paced study with video lectures, case studies, interactive quizzes, and a series of LIVE webinar sessions led by William Walsh, PhD, FACN and Malcolm Sickels, MD, ABOIM, ABIHM. Attendees will also have the opportunity to observe actual patient evaluations including in-depth health history, evaluation of blood/urine lab results and diagnosis of chemical imbalances. The overall purpose is to assist practitioners by incorporating advanced natural drug-free therapies into their medical practice.

Distant Learning Director:
William J. Walsh, PhD, FACN, is president of the non-profit Walsh Research Institute near Chicago (USA) and directs physician and practitioner-training programs internationally including in the United States, Australia, Ireland and Norway. Over 1,000 physicians and medical practitioners have attended a Walsh Research Institute Workshop.
An internationally recognized expert on biochemical imbalances, Dr. Walsh has devoted nearly 40 years to researching the biochemistry behind behavior, learning and memory, mental health and various disease conditions. He developed science-based, advanced nutrient therapies that have helped thousands of patients challenged by behavioral disorders, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, and Alzheimer’s disease, and are used by doctors throughout the world. |
Dr. Walsh’s approach recognizes that nutrient imbalances can alter brain levels of key neurotransmitters, disrupt gene expression of proteins and enzymes, and cripple the body’s protection against environmental toxins. His book, Nutrient Power (Skyhorse Publishing, 2014, 2012), describes his findings and the advanced nutrient therapies which correct biochemical imbalances that are causing learning, behavioral, developmental and mental health issues.
Dr. Walsh has authored numerous scientific articles and reports and has five patents. He has presented his experimental research at the American Psychiatric Association, the U.S. Senate, the National Institute of Mental Health, and has been a speaker at 30 international conferences. His early work included a twelve-year collaboration with the renowned (late) Carl C. Pfeiffer, MD, PhD of Princeton, NJ (USA).

Distant Learning Instructor:
Malcolm Sickels, MD, ABOIM, ABIHM, is a board certified family and holistic medicine physician who uses a variety of modalities in his integrative family practice founded in 2005 in Ann Arbor, MI. For each of his patients, Dr. Sickels draws from a wide range of resources and believes in the value of rigorous scientific inquiry, diagnostic testing, and active listening while applying a skillful blend of evidence-based nutrient interventions and standard medical therapies. Dr. Sickels began his association with WRI when he attended a WRI Physician Education Workshop in 2014 and found Dr. Walsh's advanced nutrient therapy system to improve the outcomes of his patients with behavior, learning, and mental disorders. As a member of the WRI faculty, he continues to lend his knowledge and wisdom gained from clinical experience by educating physicians during WRI Workshops and being an active leader in the WRI physician online forum.
