Since 2005, about 1,200 individuals from 60 countries have completed a Mastering Brain Chemistry Program and learned nutrient-therapy protocols for patients challenged by mental disorders. ABOUT WILLIAM J. WALSH, PhD, FACN

William J. Walsh, PhD, FACN, president of the non-profit Walsh Research Institute, is an internationally recognized expert in abnormal biochemistry associated with impaired brain function and a key scientist paving the way for promising drug-free therapies for patients challenged by mental disorders. Over the past 30 years, Dr. Walsh has developed biochemical treatments for patients diagnosed with behavioral disorders, ADHD, autism, clinical depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease that are used by doctors throughout the world. He has designed nutritional programs for Olympic athletes, NBA players, major league baseball players, a heavyweight boxing champion, PGA and LPGA golfers, and others. His book, Nutrient Power: Heal Your Biochemistry and Heal Your Brain, describes his advanced system for normalizing body chemistry imbalances that alter mental function.

Dr. Walsh’s medical accomplishments include: (a) groundbreaking studies reporting reduced violent behavior after normalizing body chemistry, (b) his 1990 discovery that abnormal methylation is a dominant factor in mental illness, (c) severe undermethylation, copper/zinc imbalances and metallothionein protein depletion in autism, (d) the 2007 published study linking copper overload and post-partum depression, (f) identification of five biochemical subtypes of clinical depression, (g) the 2016 discovery of striking epigenetic changes in the schizophrenia population, (h) drug-free epigenetic therapies which can regulate activity of misbehaving neurotransmitters, and (i) the discovery that that bipolar disorder is caused by genetic weakness in ion-channel behavior plus accelerated DNA damage (described in his 2025 book The Essence of Bipolar Disorder).
